That hasn't stopped his team from leaning into the idea of the bombastic solo mid as the star player propped up by four equally important supporters.

We can't all relate to the Arteezy and other Dota experts. We can, however, connect with something near and dear to every player's heart: the heroes.

One area in which Dota excels is character. Each unit brings a charisma that is wholly unique to them, and shines through not only in lore and blips of dialogue, but in the way their skills interact with those components.

Morphling, my favorite hero by far, is a living comet melted down into a mean glass of hard carry. He's meant to be slippery, amorphous, and as inevitable as the tides. His skills reflect that, giving him the ability to literally gush into and out of battle, alternate his stats, and hit harder than most any other hero.

Feeling like an actual wave of destruction is thrilling assuming you meet his hefty farm requirements. More to the point, it's what Morphling is supposed to feel like. It's his role, both as a character and as component of a team composition, and by playing him correctly I play that part more completely than in most traditional RPGs.

Look at Dota 2 like Shakespeare. Every actor has their own unique motions and intonations. Everyone brings something unique to the part of MacBeth or Titus Andronicus. The lines, however, are still the same. The character's motivations never change from one performance to another. No offensive contents, including but not limited to, racism, gore or pornography. No trolling, including but not limited to, flame incitation, user provocation or false information distribution.
