Spotify is a streaming service, not a download service. Spotify only gives you access to the Spotify catalogue through the official Spotify applications, so they can track play counts and make sure artists are fairly compensated.
With that in mind it does not give you access to download tracks as mp3's for use outside of the Spotify apps. Is there any plan to add the Beatles' music to the Spotify catalog? Spotify's official statement on missing content is here. From reading around, Beatles licensing looks like a big mess but I am sure the guys at Spotify who we musn't forget are massive music fans would like to see them on the service too!
I agree with you drako83, being a music lover myself, I constantly boast about songs I've discovered to friends who want to listen, but, I do not have sufficient means to do so. Most of the songs are one-offs so to purchase an entire elbum for a single song is streaching the purse strings. Surely a 'pay per song' payment plan must be in the works somewhere just waiting for activation. There are a variety of other companies online who offer pay per song downloads just not Spotify.

I bought an album and a few singles. Clearly, the site should work on a Mac using Firefox. There are plenty of reasons why someone would choose a Mac over a PC security, usability, reliability, total cost of ownership, etc. In order to bring you music at discounted volume prices, costs for hiring developers actually capable of building such a web app correctly had to be overlooked.

Thus the chances of that web designer taking 5 more mins to do this or that for mac is less likely. No, actually they direct Windows Firefox users to an alternate site as noted in the post.
My point is that the same alternate site would work for Mac Firefox users as well. And it would take all of two minutes for them to modify the OS error they display to Mac users.
Your advice was spot-on. Your shortcut neatly sidestepped all that garbage. Also, you seem to forget that while the Mac market share is very small, I think that it has been established that it is disproportionately full of early adopters and opinion leaders: the exact people that a smart retailer would want to make sure had a favorable initial experience.
And because of those glowing early reviews, the rest of the world wanted to get their hands on one. But, I hope they are successful. Competition, and support for DRM free music is important if you want it to stick around. I run Firefox except when a site requires IE. There are at least a few requirements with most software download sites, including iTunes. Let me see if I understand you. I picked Mac, so I should expect that there are certain websites that will not work for me.
What sort of websites would those be? Websites that sell the platform neutral music in an mp3 format? How is that Windows specific? A website that works with Firefox on Windows also works also works with Firefox on Mac. A competent web developer can easily make the changes necessary to accommodate Mac users in less than five minutes. Just a guess. Mac users certainly are certainly usually music lovers.
